What does a GI Mucosal Protectant Do?
A gastrointestinal mucosal protectant should protect the mucosal lining. This protection
can be preventative as well as restorative. Veterinary Gastrafate® is formulated to have
enhanced muco-adherence. It engages the mucosal lining on contact providing support to
cellular and sub-cellular (receptors) elements of the mucosal.

When gut dysfunction occur because of mucosal irritation, erosion, infection or inflammation,
Veterinary Gastrafate® support on contact those mucosal mechanisms used to reverse the
dysfunction. Excessive diarrhea, vomiting, ileus, bloating or distention should be minimized
by a good GI mucosal protectant. Colic due to erosions and ulceration should also be
minimized by a mucosal protectant.

Veterinary Gastrafate® is the only muco-adherent protectant available that addresses all
these symptoms simultaneously. That's why many veterinarians like prescribing Veterinary
Gastrafate® for nearly every "stomach issue".
